Architecture. Throughout a very common term, which holds and represents as much as the history of mankind. It is like a cry into the rocks. Cry the words of which are shaping the cold and dry stone into something, maybe a peculiar statue. Something the person is thinking is right. Therefore to study architecture is a tough, hard and solid task. Student has to be a talented „rhetorician“ and he has to choose the words he is to call into the imaginary rocks with precision and melody. If the student adds an invention, strong will and respect for history, he has all the chances to become a good and successful architect. But without studies and education nothing is working.
When I first saw the appearance of Austria, Germany, France and Britain especially it confirmed my theory of the more countries, languages and people the person knows the better is a chance to understand the function of all society. With great interest now I watch the rise and unfolding of students travelling all around the world. Enthusiastically they discover the unknown. Thus a new phenomenon was born. Stations in all major cities and capitals are filled with young people with backpacks, people who even maybe do not know what is their next destination are where they are travelling the next day. Airports are again full with students heading for professional practice abroad. What they have in common is the will to see and learn as much as possible. Those ones interested in architecture usually make a list of towns, buildings, architectural jewels worth seeing. So is there any better way of studying than this?
As early as my years at grammar school I was overwhelmed by an idea of trying out a different school abroad. To try out what kinds of methods and interests are advanced there and there. To make myself independent and selfstanding even in my psychical side, to learn how to think in a different language. So this idea came true and thaks to a most spreaded student programme in Europe with a peculiar name Erasmus.
Erasmus is a new phenomenon again. It is the best, easiest and nicest way to taste something new for one year. Studying abroad was banned for a generation of our mothers and fathers. Even with force they were kept in an iron curtain and opressed with words of building the world peace and brotherhood with the soviet union. The generation with the year of birth around 1980 has this genuine chance. We have an oportunity to speak a different language without any prejudice ar fear, to learn how frenchmen draw, the English think, the way how the Spanish learn. In short every University has a billateral agreement with several others and shows helpfulness to all international students. In the beginning the first step is to sit in front of your computer and find most of the necessary and essential information on the internet. Official websites usually provides these kinds of references and student programmes in a special departmens. After that everything depends only on communication and skills for making agreements of each side. The interest and right attitude in these cases always win. In general we should travel to learn. There’s no worry. If it works none ever regret it and if not, there’s no better place to go back than home.
